That’s why there’s plenty of support to hand – from free counselling and therapeutic services in your own home or wherever you feel comfortable, to support from one of our Access Ambassadors to help get out and about.
Are you at risk of becoming isolated or lonely?
If you’re over 50 and are about to go through a significant life event such as retirement or caring for a loved one, why not speak to one of our Peer Mentors as a sounding board to support you through the next stage?
“I wanted to volunteer to help myself but also give something back to others. It’s important when you’re on your own to mix – it helps your wellbeing when you can socially interact. Courage is a big thing, to have someone go along with you that first time helps.”
Janice, Peer Mentor volunteer
“I know what it’s like to be alone and isolated, and not knowing where or who to go to for help. I knew that what I had to offer could be useful to someone else, which is why I am volunteering as an Age Better Champion.”
Harry, 54, Age Better Champion
Sometimes it’s helpful to speak to someone else who has had a similar experience to you. Our Age Better Champions are volunteers who have also experienced loneliness or isolation due to sudden changes in their lives. Why not give them a call?
