#proudtoask is a campaign targeted at business people and professionals who every day come into contact with older people who are, or are at risk of, isolation or loneliness.
We want you to help us raise awareness of the issue, and help refer people to us who you suspect may be lonely or isolated. This could be something as simple as putting up a poster in your shop, handing someone a referral postcard, or attending one of our workshops to see what you can do to help end loneliness and isolation in Sheffield.
Managers or individuals from organisations who have contact with older people, specifically places where isolated people are more likely to be reached.
This includes: chip shops, bakers, local cafes, churches, off-licenses, GPs, betting shops, butchers, nurses, students, paramedics, hairdressers, community support workers, restraunts, PCSOs, post offices, health workers, newsagents, social workers, doctors, care assistants, key workers, pubs, community support workers, youth organisations – any front line staff in customer-facing roles!
In short, if there’s any chance of you having contact with someone over the age of 50 who you suspect may be lonely or isolated, we want to hear from you!
You’ll be making a huge difference to older people in our city, and there’s other benefits too.
We offer a bronze, silver, and gold pledge pack – providing plenty of ways to get involved and show your support for Age Better in Sheffield.
