Are you aged 50 or over? Do you feel like the activities on offer in your area aren’t for you? Got an idea for something social that could reduce isolation?
This project gives support to people aged 50 and over who are interested in setting something up as a group that is socially focussed and reduces isolation. Ignite Imaginations will help you design the proposed activity, set up something new and help you get your project off the ground.
The purpose of this project is to support activities and groups that interest you, and will help to involve other people within your community. Current projects include a Dementia Cafe running in Broomhall on the third Tuesday of every month (all welcome!), and two participants are about to start a martial arts group in Brunswick Gardens.
Start Up is the vehicle that helps people in communities start something that has the right structure in place to sustain the project, provides support to source longer term funding, whilst also helping out with legal advice.
Anyone over the age of 50 can access this project. If you’ve got an idea, or want to help get something off the ground, we want to hear from you!
Pictured are two Start Up participants – one is planning to start up a Woodhouse East Park conservation group, the other is working on starting up a ‘Have a Doodle’ group for people who want to get together to enjoy being creative and have a chat over a hot drink.
