Volunteer with Age Better in Sheffield and end isolation and loneliness together.

With an estimated 16,000 older people in Sheffield over the age of 50 at risk of being isolated or lonely, it’s going to take a joint effort across the city to make a difference.

We are particularly looking for volunteers over the age of 50, but have opportunities for those who are younger too.

For volunteers over 50

Access Ambassadors – help someone get out and about, or take action to improve access around Sheffield.
Peer Mentors – help support another person over 50 who is at risk of becoming isolated.
Age Better Champions – sharing your past experience of isolation and loneliness to help others.
Start Up –  want to set up their own project to end isolation? Get involved with Start Up!

For volunteers of any age

Community Journalists –volunteers interested in creating content for the Neighbourhoods Toolkit
Skills Swap – volunteers to swap their experience with someone younger or older.
#proudtoask – do you have contact with older people as a part of your job? Volunteer as a business or an individual to spread the word and refer people you meet to Age Better in Sheffield.
Innovation Fund – lots of our Innovation Fund projects need volunteers, too!
